The Best Smartphones For A Killer VR Experience 2019

You do not have to pay out a considerable amount of money and confine yourself to an expensive PC or console to experience VR. If you own a smartphone, it can be within your means.Searching for a mobile virtual reality experience but not sure which smartphones support it, and which do a great job? The following guide explains which smartphones work with virtual reality, what virtual reality platform is compatible with them and how good those smartphones and platforms are for virtual reality.

Google Daydream

Google Daydream is a comfortable, stylish, deeply engaging platform and headset launched in 2016. Presently the Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel, ZTE Axon 7, Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, Google Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S8, Google Pixel 2, Moto Z2 Force, Google Pixel 3 XL, ZenFone AR, Google Pixel 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Moto Z Force, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, Huawei Porsche Design Mate 9, Samsung Galaxy S9, LG V30, Moto Z, and Huawei Mate 9 Pro are all compatible with Google Daydream, and the list is still growing. As it turns out, even some smartphones that are not presently compatible can be made compatible through a software update.Besides having a compatible smartphone, you will also need a Google Daydream View headset, which goes for roughly £99.When purchased, you will be able to experience the best mobile VR in existence. Google Daydream is an excellent choice as it only works on powerful smartphones and the headset itself is very powerful. Even better, it comes with a remote to better control your virtual reality experiences. There are also some VR experiences and games that are limited to Daydream. But it is also very costly by mobile VR standards and available on a limited number of smartphones.

Samsung Gear VR

This is another high-end mobile virtual reality alternative. The latest version of the headset comes with a remote controller, similar to Google Daydream, and is comfortable and very powerful. This is also only compatible with some expensive Samsung phones, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy A8, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S7.Gear VR has the same benefits as Google Daydream, in that it is a costly alternative with quality headset and has a lot of content, with over 1000 gear apps and games.

Google Cardboard

Google Cardboard is for anybody whose Android smartphone isn’t compatible with Google Daydream or Samsung Gear VR, or just anybody who does not want to spend a lot on a virtual reality headset.Generally, Cardboard games and apps will work with all Android 4.1 and later phones and even iPhones, provided they have IOS 8 and later.

VR Experience

Then you just need a Google Cardboard viewer, which is an inexpensive headset. These differ in price and quality, with the ones literally made of cardboard going for just a few pounds, while stronger plastic alternatives could cost you a bit more. However, the headsets themselves don’t match the quality of the ones highlighted above.

IPhone VR

Google Cardboard is the ideal choice for a great iPhone VR experience. Nevertheless, if you’ve an iPhone 5S and later model, there are other high-end VR headsets available on the market. These will allow you to experience many VR apps and games that are not exclusively intended for cardboard, and the headsets are similarly low-priced, but it's advisable you go for a cardboard certified headset for the best VR experience.

Windows Phone VR

If you’ve a windows phone, you are not going to have an enjoyable VR experience, as there are hardly any virtual reality games and apps available. However, there are a few, and you can experience them with any compatible, inexpensive VR headset.

Other Smartphone VR Solutions

If you own an Android smartphone, your best options have most likely been covered above, but you still have other alternatives like Huawei and LG, ZTE and Huawei that have also come up with their own vr headsets. And while their headsets are well built than most Cardboard headsets, they still can’t compete with Gear VR or Google Daydream.

Conclusion

This post aims to tell you that VR can be much closer and more accessible than many presume. Obviously, no smartphone VR quality matches gaming pc and a well-developed VR headset, but still, it’s a good option. If you don’t really want to squander money on a costly toy including a pricey powerful computer and helmet, but still want to experience new sensations, then mobile VR is what you need.
